Definitions first

Four quantities that are easy to confuse

Inventory reporting goes wrong when different counts are treated as the same thing. KEYXE keeps them apart.

Stock at a point in time

Available units on a specific date — a snapshot, not a flow.

Receipts

Units received from inbound shipments. Inbound units are not sellable until they are received.

Shipped units

Units that left inventory to fulfill orders during the period.

Adjustments & returns

Damaged, lost or found units, and sellable customer returns that come back into stock.

KEYXE does not invent inbound movements from a final stock number, and does not assume that closing stock equals opening stock minus units sold. The demo’s stock bridge is built from recorded sample movements, and its “unexplained difference” is shown explicitly.

A simple, labeled estimate

Estimated days of cover

estimated days of cover = sample available units ÷ sample average daily units sold (last 30 days)

Assumptions

  • Recent sales continue at the same average rate.
  • Inbound shipments, promotions and seasonality are not included.
  • Zero recent sales gives N/A, not “infinite”.
  • Low-stock thresholds are configurable examples (the demo default is 14 days).

KEYXE Inventory Intelligence is a reporting tool. It is not a warehouse system of record and not a demand forecast. The estimate helps prioritize attention; replenishment decisions belong to the seller, using their own lead times and supplier information.

Adjust the threshold yourself.

The inventory demo includes a stock movement bridge, weekly snapshots and a configurable low-stock list.
